Design Documentation
and RMRS Approval

The design documentation defines and confirms the principal engineering solutions for the hull structure, ship systems, machinery, electrical equipment, automation, fire protection, shipboard arrangements, outfitting, and other technical disciplines. All documents are developed in accordance with the vessel’s intended purpose, navigation area, class notation, ice class, level of automation, crew composition, operational conditions, and client requirements.

Our objective at this stage is not merely to produce individual drawings and explanatory reports, but to develop a fully coordinated and technically consistent documentation package. Each engineering decision is evaluated in terms of its impact on related disciplines. For example, equipment selection directly affects foundations, piping systems, power supply, ventilation, automation, weight distribution, and stability calculations. This integrated approach allows potential technical conflicts to be identified early and minimizes the need for later revisions.

Particular attention is given to compliance with RMRS requirements. We analyze the applicable sections of the Rules, take into account the assigned class notation, and prepare documentation in a form suitable for classification review. Where necessary, additional explanations, engineering calculations, and technical justifications are developed to support design decisions.

Following submission to RMRS, we provide full support throughout the approval process. All comments and remarks are analyzed in technical detail to assess their impact on the overall design. Based on this analysis, we prepare responses, update drawings, refine calculations, or provide additional supporting documentation. This ensures a structured review process while maintaining the engineering integrity of the project.

Depending on the maturity of input data and supplier information, documentation may be submitted for review in stages. Initial submissions may include the main design package, followed by updated documentation reflecting confirmed equipment parameters, machinery specifications, piping components, electrical systems, and automation equipment.

The outcome of this stage is a complete set of design documentation prepared for submission and approval by RMRS, along with full technical support until all remarks are closed. For the client, this provides a solid foundation for detailed engineering, equipment procurement, and vessel construction planning.
