Design Supervision and
Technical Support

Design supervision and technical support are carried out during the construction phase to ensure that actual shipbuilding works comply with the approved design and production documentation. This service is particularly critical for lead vessels, modernization projects, conversions, the introduction of new equipment, or projects executed at shipyards requiring continuous engineering support.

During construction, technical issues inevitably arise: actual equipment data may be уточнены, suppliers may change, production constraints may be identified, RMRS comments may be issued, or modifications to structural elements, piping systems, cable routing, or outfitting components may be required. Our responsibility is to promptly analyze such issues and make engineering decisions without compromising the overall design logic of the project.

Within design supervision, we review requests from the shipyard and the client, assess the feasibility of proposed changes, and issue technical clarifications, revised drawings, sketches, explanatory notes, calculations, and, where required, documentation for additional approval by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS).

Each modification is evaluated not only locally but also in terms of its impact on interfacing systems. For example, relocation of equipment may require changes to foundations, piping routes, cable trays, ventilation systems, vessel weight distribution, center of gravity, access zones, and operational documentation. This approach ensures that no design decision creates downstream issues at later stages of construction or operation.

Technical support can be provided both on-site and remotely, using digital documentation packages, the 3D model, photographic records, issue logs, and real-time communication with the shipyard.

The result of design supervision is a more controlled construction process, where the design organization remains actively involved in implementation and ensures that the vessel is successfully brought from documentation to final delivery.
